Sand Cicadas can be identified by their gold-orange bodies along with loud sounds. If you see one, quickly pull out your Bug Net, move methodically, and lock them down without making too much movement. The quicker you swing your Bug Net when in position, the better. Sky Stag Beetles are found exclusively in Skyloft trees. They can be identified by their light blue bodies and are almost always clinging right to the middle of tree trunks.
To catch a Sky Stag Beetle without a Net, simply roll into the tree and pick them up once they fall. Skyloft Mantises can be found all throughout Skyloft and are one of the most common bugs in Skyward Sword. Simply walk up to them with your Bug Net and swoop them in. Starry Fireflies are an incredibly unique bug that can only be found at night.
This is especially notable since most areas in Skyward Sword are day-locked. Starry Fireflies will glow as they fly around and are very easy to spot. Volcanic Ladybugs appear regularly throughout Edlin Volcano and tend to fly up in the air if you get too close too quickly. You can use it to cut Skulltula webs, or hit various enemies in game! When items seem out of reach, simply guide your beetle towards the item. Call back your beetle and you should receive all of the items it collected!
You can use the Beetle to enter Beedle's shop at Skyloft. Hit the bell with the weapon and a rope will come down, allowing you to grab it and enter the shop. How to Go to Beedle's Shop and Island.
The beetle can be obtained in a chest inside a giant bird statue in Skyview Temple. Use your slingshot to hit the red gem above the entrance of the statue. Skyview Temple Walkthrough. Before getting access to the chest, you must first defeat Stalfos , a mini-boss in Skyview Temple. He can quickly be defeated by simply hitting the unguarded part of his body.
