In the new era of COVID, the speed of this change has increased exponentially, pushing us to think creatively, innovate quickly and adapt rapidly. As a highly versatile and responsive learning organization, TMCC is well-positioned for success in this environment. We grow stronger by the semester and in challenging times, we reaffirm our commitment to moving forward and seeking new opportunities to provide excellent public higher education. TMCC's Institutional Advisory Council is the link between the College to the community, and anticipates future regional educational trends.

Truckee Meadows Community College President Karin Hilgersom last week received a four-year contract extension despite ongoing turmoil at the school , unfavorable reviews concerning her communication and sharp criticism from two members of the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents during her evaluation process.
Hilgersom has been president of TMCC since and has been criticized by some faculty and students, including being named as a defendant in lawsuits brought by TMCC instructors. NFA will continue to support faculty members and hold the administration accountable. Regent Cathy McAdoo said she supports four-year contracts but wanted one-time, merit-based pay increases to be approved by the board in addition to the chancellor.
In , her contract was approved following a faculty survey and NSHE evaluation that resulted in her being ordered to attend mediation to resolve communication issues. Hilgersom has taught thousands of students in numerous professional technical, health career programs, and transfer majors. Her management experience has ranged from supervision of academic programs and executive teams to leading tutoring centers and small business development centers. She has also supervised libraries, distance learning programs, and a campus Information Technology IT department.
She added that it is also vital to support the work of faculty and staff to maintain excellence and enrichment of arts and science programs.
