Jekyll soon came to the conclusion that the morals and intelligence of both Dr. Jekyll and Mr, Hyde would collide creating doom and he would not be able to control both as they are both apart of him. Conrad paints a raw picture of exactly how this portion of history unfolded, and to sugar-coat it at all would be an injustice to those who suffered.
Throughout the book, Marlow is consistently on the brink of the realization that his job is detrimental to humanity. He is horrified by their treatment. Gradually, he realizes there is little he can do about the tragic situation with the natives. Marlow becomes desensitized to the horrors around him. The matter of the situation is one that will do anything even if it may affect others. This tale describe the immorality of good being corrupted in a very complex matter which some in the tale would settle for the lesser evil.
The ring of power was meant for great evil and can overwhelming its holder in to madness, because it looks for a deep dark desirer in many that intended to do good, but often fall sort of its tests. Others can be blinded due to the influence of power and the environment they think they control with self-interest.

This has a great impact on the story in the way that the reader does not feel at any point uninterested. It also means that the story is entering a section of suspense early in the story. This style conforms to the short story genre as little time is spent normally describing the character.
It is the events that take place that matter and these often describe or define the character instead. The quote is the first section of suspense.
It is also powerful because it mentions the nobles of the land. One aspect of style that Doyle uses to the fullest extent possible in this story is vocabulary.
They show how much effect the event had on the client. It is what we all work for, what we spend all our lives working towards and what we leave when we die. It is therefore a very powerful element to be included in a story. This theme is evident where the client is rich and the person who trusted even richer.
The circumstances that Doyle creates are very effective in creating suspense and mystery than would otherwise, for instance, if he wrote the story as a wealthy man giving in a beryl coronet. The effect of suspense would be far less if it was a man from the middle class giving in a silver trumpet.
These characters are Arthur and Mary. Doyle portrays these two characters as opposites, good and evil. He describes the characters as clear-cut personalities, Arthur is evil, and Mary is good. He makes the reader believe that Arthur and Mary would behave outside these stereotypical images. This is effective in building up mystery because the reader believes in the way in which Doyle describes their characters.
When it comes to choosing which character did the crime. The reader does not know what to believe, the past evidence of the persons character or the present evidence, this is a very effective method. At the end of the story, Doyle fuses both together and forms a viable conclusion.
Doyle describes Arthur as a bad person, this is proven wrong at the end of the story where he does something contrary to his past. This is due to love. These quotes show that Arthur was an untrustworthy character and a squanderer of money.
Both of these descriptions are deceptive because they are both contradicted at the end of the story. Doyle uses imagery with these two characters comparing them as good and evil. What is so interesting about his story is that at the end, good becomes evil and evil becomes good. One aspect that contributes to the mystery of the piece is how all the evidence points towards Arthur and yet how Holmes is convinced that it was someone else from the beginning.
This builds up mystery because the reader does not find out until the end who committed the crime and is left to ponder who did it for the most of the beginning of the story.
This forms the basis on which Doyle can build up suspense. Doyle also compares the feeling he gets around him to the feeling he gets looking at the snakes in the London zoo. Doyle knows how to have the reader questioning till the end, by giving clues to the final conclusion and not giving all the inf This is what creates the suspense.
One of the main ways that Doyle creates suspense is by giving that eerie and mysterious effect in his description. Not only does this bewilder the reader, but it also wants the reader to read until the end. The Red-headed League best describes the puzzling experience. Jabez Wilson is basically getting paid a lot of money for doing practically nothing; he also has strict orders which baffle the readers mind with questions. Already this has brought up questions, but that is how Doyle wants the reader to feel, he wants them to feel this way so they keep on reading to get the correct answers hence it creates suspense.
