NOTE: If we have the Orientation program on-campus all staff will move into the summer sessions residence hall on Tuesday May 11, starting at p. Final training sessions begin at a. If we do not have the Orientation program on-campus Orientation Leaders will be located at their homes and final training will begin online on Tuesday, May 11 th at a. The Orientation sessions run from mid-May to mid-July, during which time Orientation Leaders are required to live in the Orientation residence hall and be available Monday through Friday.
Other meetings, as arranged, will be required throughout the program. Additional employment or summer school attendance during the Orientation program mid-May through mid-July is not possible.
In addition to the May through July Orientation sessions, Orientation Leaders are expected to work International Orientation and the final Orientation session that occurs the week before classes begin in August. Orientation leaders are obligated to work all Orientation sessions that occur the week before classes begin.
Students who may have prior obligations that week such as participating in RA training or job or mentor training should not apply for an Orientation leader position. Serving as an ambassador for the college, and helping new students make the transition to college life successfully are important goals for most Orientation Leaders. As your new student gets to know her Orientation Leader, or if your returning student decides to become an Orientation Leader, you will be assured that the college-student connection is not only strengthened, but personal.
