Can you walk from contemporary resort to magic kingdom

While the thought of doing any extra walking during a Disney vacation may be unappealing to some, consider your options when taking the resort monorail while leaving the park during the post-fireworks rush.

When lines for the monorail and ferry or resort launches seem to be never-ending, the walk to the Contemporary Resort will take less than 10 minutes. This distance can often save even more time when going in the opposite direction. From the Contemporary, the monorail stops at the other two monorail resorts and the Transportation and Ticket Center before reaching the Magic Kingdom, so if you are up for a quick stroll doing so can save you some serious time.

The walkway between the Contemporary and the Magic Kingdom is entirely paved and well-lit if you happen to be walking at night. The tower is the iconic A-frame building that includes most of the restaurants and shops, plus the monorail. Some can see the Magic Kingdom fireworks at night. The most expensive rooms offer a Magic Kingdom view or look out at the water—worth it only if you plan on spending lots of time in the room. Many rooms also offer a sleeper sofa, accommodating five in the room. There are lots of outlets, and free wireless internet access is now included.

The service seems to be improving as well: my travel companions and I needed to get a lot of work done while we were attending a convention and the signal worked well in multiple locations. The resort itself offers several popular dining options. The very contemporary Wave, pictured at the right, offers fresh, California-style American food.

There are also several quick service spots, including a lobby coffee bar and a convenience store. Transportation around to the parks is offered via monorail, boat, or bus.

You can literally get off the elevator from your room and hop onto the monorail to get to the signature park.
